Channel 12 News in Phoenix has run another segment of the devastating birth stories against Willow Birthing Center (Willow Midwife Center for Birth & Wellness). Click the link to read the story and watch the video.
This time, the story again focuses on Snyder & Wenner’s lawsuit against Willow regarding the wrongful death of a newborn child. The Willow Birthing Center midwife, Wendy Shaw, was alleged to have ignored warning signs during the labor and delivery. She also allowed the mom to labor in the second stage for more than two times the acceptable number of hours. Due to this neglect, the lawsuit alleged the child was born with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE), which ultimately caused his tragic death. While Willow initially denied the allegations, they ultimately settled the case for the limits of their insurance policy shortly after Wendy Shaw’s deposition was taken.
